Commodities Finish Trading Mixed; Crude Lower, While Gold Gains

Commodities finished the session mixed as gold finished higher while crude oil and fell.

Light, sweet crude oil for November delivery finished down 0.3% to $85.57 a barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil was up 1.53% to $2.94 a gallon while natural gas was down 3.24% to $3.49 per million British thermal units.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) is up 0.42% to $33.15. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) is down 3.05% to $8.57.

Meanwhile, gold futures finished higher as hope rises that Europe will contain its debt crisis.

Gold for December delivery finished up 1.3% to $1,682.60 an ounce. In other metal futures, silver was up 2.48% to $32.79 a troy ounce while copper traded up 3.08% to $3.39.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.87% to $76.95.

In metal ETFs, SPDR Gold Trust ( GLD ) is up 0.86% to $163.52. Market Vectors ETF Trust ( GDX ) is up 1.55% to $57.79. iShares Silver Trust ( SLV ) is up 1.66% to $31.93.
