Comcast Corp. 's CMCSA business arm recently introduced a phone line - Voice Mobility - installed with a mobile app which helps employees receive business messages even when they are away from the desk. This new service has been designed for Small and Medium Business Enterprises where workers usually need to travel extensively.

Features

Voice Mobility offers a range of calling features like Voice Mail, Be Anywhere, Move Call, Transfer Call, Contacts, Recents and Do Not Disturb. Together with its Ethernet and Voice based IP network, Comcast aims to provide a complete interconnected network for its growing business customer base by extending newer voice capabilities to employees on their Android or iOS phones. Legal, Health Care and Construction services are expected to benefit from the same.

Diversification

Comcast is a leading cable MSO (multi service operator) in the US. Cable industry players face significant threats from new age video streaming service providers like Hulu and Netflix NFLX . Comcast is no exception. Thus, to maintain its financial position, the company is focusing on the business services division, which diversifies its business operations and creates a stable revenue stream. The company is one of the fastest growing divisions of Comcast and clocked a growth rate of 21% last quarter. Several industry researches estimate that the SMB market offers a lucrative opportunity of $20-30 billion in the long term. Moreover, the company recently acquired Contingent Network Services with an aim to compete against Verizon Communications Inc. VZ and AT&T Inc. T for providing network services to large businesses. Thus, it is the apt moment for Comcast's wireless service launch for business clients.

Bottom Line

Comcast has been striving to tap in on the increasing mobility that businesses are gaining in recent times. With opportunities waning in the cable division, the company is looking to expand its foothold in the enterprise service segment. While the company is poised to gain customers with the latest phone offering, the future of the product line is unforeseeable.

Comcast currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
