Canada Gains For 7th Day In A Row, Hits 6 Yr Highs

Canada stocks made it a magnificent seven days of gains in a row, taking the overall index to its highest levels in more than six years on Monday, boosted by Energy stocks. This comes as Bloomberg cited Warren Buffett as saying his Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK.A) - which, it noted, has struck deals to expand its utility business in Nevada and Western Canada - plans more investment in the industry, in part by betting on renewable power.

Most sectors were higher, but Healthcare and Metals and Mining capped gains.

Of commodities, gold futures ended slightly higher even though the greenback also trended up. Oil rose more than 1%.
