BP Edges Up Off The Open; Employees Face Criminal Charges Over Gulf of Mexico Spill: WSJ

BP ( BP ) has edged up off the open, despite a Wall Street Journal report saying some of the company's employees may face criminal charges tied to the Spring 2010 disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Deepwater Horizon incident killed 11 people and caused the worst U.S. oil spill in history.

U.S. prosecutors are preparing charges that might include providing false information in federal documents, the Journal reports. At the same time, the Justice Department might not bring charges. Prosecutors sometimes use the threat of charges to pressure people to cooperate, the paper says. The company and the Justice Department do not comment in the article.
