Earlier in the session, at 7 a.m. ET, MBA reports weekly mortgage applications. February factory orders follow at 10 a.m. ET and are expected to increase 1.1 percent. They fell 0.7 percent the previous month. Crude oil-inventories round out the headlines 30 minutes later.
Monsanto's quarterly report before the opening bell is the biggest earnings release today.
The calendar remains active tomorrow, with the European Central Bank's interest-rate decision and initial jobless claims. Micron Technology reports earnings Thursday afternoon.
Non-farm payrolls, usually the most important event of the month, concludes the week Friday morning.
