Avis Strengthens Presence in Taiwan with 2 New Locations - Analyst Blog

Avis Budget Group, Inc.CAR is progressing well on its global expansion strategy with its unit, Avis Car Rental, having added two new locations in Taiwan. These facilities include Taiwan's Banqiao District in New Taipei City and West District in Chiayi City.

Operations at both these centers are likely to benefit inhabitants of the region by offering them a wide range of vehicles from Ford Motor Co. F , Nissan and Mercedes Benz, among others. Also, customers, including both business and leisure, will be entitled to services like Global Positioning System ("GPS") devices, child safety seats, vehicle damage coverage options and personal property protection packages.

Avis' license operation in Taiwan dates back to 2012, making it the only global car rental company and also the sole car rental provider offering inter-border and cross-strait to Hong Kong and Macau. Taiwan's solid economy has fuelled demand for car rental services in the region, which in turn, encouraged Avis to expand there.

Apart from Taiwan, the company operates in many other Asian regions as a leading provider of vehicle rental; vehicle leasing and limousine/chauffeur drive services. The company, which initiated its Asian operations in 1970 with a launch in Hong Kong, had grown successfully by extending its footprint to Singapore, the Philippines, Pakistan, Malaysia and Indonesia, through the rest of the decade.

Further, this Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) company has largely expanded its footprint in the continent, expanding operations in various markets including India, Mainland China, Vietnam and Taiwan, with the latest additions being Laos and Cambodia.

In fact, earlier this week, the company opened four new rental stations in Batam, Indonesia, including the Batam Center Point Ferry Terminal, Hang Nadim International Airport, Harbour Bay Ferry Terminal and Sekupang International Ferry Terminal. With these openings, the company has expanded its presence in Indonesia to seven cities and 17 rental locations.

Currently, Avis has a vast presence in Asia with over 300 locations, where it provides services through a network of wholly owned subsidiaries, joint ventures and licensee agreements in 20 markets. The company is further widening its operations through acquisitions and collaborations, along with investing in other booming markets where car rental demand is on the rise.

Better-ranked stocks in the business services industry include Sajan Inc. SAJA , with a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) and ExamWorks Group Inc. EXAM , with a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
