Australia services PMI for November: 48.2 (prior 48.9)

Market performance on both tablet and paper

Data for the Australian AiG performance of Services Index for November

A second consecutive month in contraction, and a slide to 48.2

  • prior 48.9

The PMIs in Australia don't usually have much of an immediate FX impact, even the manufacturing PMI (which came out 2 days ago ) tends to sail on by more or less unheeded. It all goes into the bigger picture, of course, but as for an announcement effect ... not so much.

'Key points' from AiG on the release today:

  • Mild contraction interrupts a mostly positive performance through 2015
  • PSI indicating expansion in six of the eleven months so far this year
  • All five of activity sub-indexes were below 50 points in November
  • Four of the nine services sub-sectors grew in November
  • Suggesting growth remains patchy and fragile
  • Respondents suggested consumer spending remains cautious and fragile
