Asian ADRs Edge Lower in Friday Trading

American depository receipts of Asian stocks were trading 0.03% lower at 142.60 on the Bank of New York Mellon Asia ADR Index on Friday.

In North Asia, the gainers were led by online retailer LightInTheBox ( LITB ) and semiconductor company Semiconductor Manufacturing International ( SMI ), which rose 3.9% and 3.6% respectively. They were followed by investment group Jupai Holdings ( JP ), higher 3.4%, and internet service provider Internet Initiative Japan ( IIJI ), up 2.1%.

The decliners in North Asia were led by New Oriental Education & Technology ( EDU ), a provider of private educational services in China, and coal miner Yanzhou Coal Mining (YZC), which shed 4.2% and 2.7%, respectively. They were followed by Kingtone Wirelessinfo Solution (KONE), a provider of mobile enterprise solutions, off 2.6%, and commercial wheel manufacturer China Zenix Auto International (ZX), which was down 2.2%.

In South Asia, the only gainers were pharmaceutical firm Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (RDY), and HDFC Bank (HDB), which rose 0.7% and 0.2% respectively.

IT services firm SIFY Technologies (SIFY) led the decliners in South Asia, falling 2.7%, followed by Indonesian telecommunications company Telekomunikasi Indonesia (TLK), down 0.8%. Direct-to-home video provider Videocon d2h (VDTH), and WNS Holdings (WNS), a provider of business process management services dropped 0.5% and 0.3% respectively.
