American depository receipts of Asian stocks were trading 1.12% higher at 179.74 on the Bank of New York Mellon Asia ADR Index on Monday morning.
Gainers in North Asia were led by online discount retailer Vipshop ( VIPS ), up 44.9%; followed by data center operator GDS Holdings ( GDS ), 6.5% higher; multi-brand hotel group China Lodging ( HTHT ), up 6.4%; and polysilicon manufacturer Daqo New Energy ( DQ ), 6.2% higher.
In South Asia, shares of Philippines-based telecom PLDT (PLDT) were 3.7% higher, Indian natural resources company Vedanta ( VEDL ) increased 3.3%, and Bangalore-based information technology services provider Wipro (WIT) rose 3%.
Decliners in North Asia were led by provider of digital television access systems China Digital TV Holding (STV), down 5.3%; followed by multi-platform media company Phoenix New Media (FENG), 4.6% lower; financial products platform Jianpu (JT), down 4%; and e-commerce platform JMU Limited (JMU), 3% lower.
And, in South Asia, shares of information technology consulting firm Infosys (INFY) were down 0.3%, while provider of telecommunication services Telekomunikasi Indonesia (TLK) also fell 0.3%.
