Stocks in the Asia-Pacific region closed mixed, after latest data showed Chinese economy grew faster-than-expected in the first quarter of the year, said Trading Economics. China's economy expanded 6.4% year-on-year in first quarter of 2019, the same pace as in the previous period and defying slowdown forecasts of 6.3%, mainly driven by industrial output and consumer demand. The Shanghai Composite rose 10 points, or 0.3% to 3,263; the Nikkei 225 gained 56 points, or 0.3% to 22,278; while the Kospi fell 3 points, or 0.1%, to 2,246; Australia's S&P/ASX 200 lost 21 points, or 0.3%, to 6,256 and the Hang Seng traded near the flat line at 30,123.
