ASIA ECONOMICS: Asian Shares Close Higher on Tuesday

Stocks in the Asia-Pacific region closed in the green on Tuesday, as trade talks between the U.S. and Japan started in Washington, Trading Economics reported. On Monday, Bank of Japan Governor Kuroda said in an interview with CNBC that "some sort of protectionism" around global trade was the "most serious risk involved in the global economy." The Shanghai Composite index rose 76 points, or 2.4%, to 3,254; the Nikkei 225 advanced 53 points or 0.2% to 22,222 the Hang Seng increased 270 points, or 0.9%, to 30,081; the Kospi went up 6 points, or 0.3%, to 2,249; and the S&P/ASX 200 gained 26 points, or 0.4%, to 6,277.
