Apple ( AAPL ) announced today the company sold more than 13 million units of its newest premier devices, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, 3 day after they officially went on the market.

Apple, again, set a company record by improving upon the previous record of 10 million iPhones sold in the first weekend of 2014. This improvement comes in part due to the inclusion of the Chinese market, compared to last year where the cell phone's official launch was delayed from governmental regulatory issues.

This number is not a surprise to many, especially when many analysts expected the company to sell anywhere between 12 million to 13 million iPhones during the first weekend.

"Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple's history," Tim Cook, Apple's chief executive, said in a statement . "Customers' feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can't wait to bring iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9."

Those "even more" countries Mr. Cook mentioned total to over 40, which include Italy Mexico, Russia, Spain, and Taiwan. Furthermore, the device will be available in the markets of over 130 countries by the end of the year.

This announcement comes off the heels of lukewarm sentiments of the company's keynote event earlier this month.

The iPhone is Apple's flagship device and rely heavily on its sales, which generated about two-thirds of the company's revenue in the latest quarter.

Apple currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) and may be on the move in light of these sales totals.
