Apigee CEO Buys 5,000 Shares of Company

Chetan Kapoor ( Insider Trades ), CEO and president of Apigee Corp. ( APIC ), bought 5,000 shares on Tuesday. The average price per share was $10.03, for a total transaction of $50,150. Apigee provides an intelligent API platform for digital business. The company's market cap is $309.75 million, and P/S ratio is 4.39.

Seven APIC insiders bought 320,844 shares in seven total transactions since April. The earliest transaction decreased about 40% in price since the purchase. Kapoor's buy on Tuesday contributed to only 1.6% of the sum of insider shares bought since April. Stacey Giamalis ( Insider Trades ), APIC chief counsel, bought 344 shares in the company today. The average price per share was $10.48. Another company insider, Anant Jhingran ( Insider Trades ), APIC chief technology officer, bought 3,800 shares of the company on Friday. The average price per share was $10.73.

The company announced a net loss of $12.56 million, or 43 cents per share for the fiscal fourth quarter ended on July 31. Net income increased from a net loss of $15.57 million, or $4.18 per share, in comparison to the corresponding quarter of 2014. Annual net income follows a decreasing trend line since 2012.

Apigee also reported total revenue of $18.70 million in the fiscal fourth quarter, up from $14.90 million reported in the fiscal fourth quarter of 2014. Kapoor commented that the company was "pleased to deliver Q4 '15 revenue and non-GAAP operating loss better than the high end" of the company's guidance ranges; he also stated that "customers processed hundreds of billions of API calls" through Apigee's system. On Sept. 24, the company also announced that Haymarket Media Group, a specialist in creating digital, mobile, print and live media, selected Apigee to provide API management for the United Kingdom's biggest online motoring forum, PistonHeads.com. Additionally, [24]7, a customer engagement software and services company also selected Apigee's API management software to standardize and streamline [24]7's platform services to improve customer experience. Ed Anuff, vice president of product strategy at Apigee, commented that "API can help companies keep pace with customer expectations for fast and high-quality product innovations."

Two gurus increased their stakes in APIC during the second quarter of 2015. Daniel Loeb (Trades, Portfolio) bought 3,166,551 shares of APIC for an average price of $13.71 per share.
