In a press release Wednesday, e-commerce giant Amazon.com Inc AMZN announced it will begin offering Black Friday deals eight days early this year, beginning this Friday, November 20; the deals will continue through the end of the day on Black Friday and are available at www.amazon.com/blackfriday .
Amazon said that new deals and discounts will be added as often as every five minutes. And, starting at midnight on Thanksgiving, customers will be able to shop 10 Deals of the Day plus a possible 10 more on Black Friday. Throughout the eight days, shoppers will also have access to Lightning Deals on thousands of products. Amazon also notes that Prime members get 30-minute early access to many of the Lightning Deals.
The company will also be hyping its mobile app this holiday shopping season offering over 150 hand-picked Lightning Deals ranging from electronics to household items; the products will only be available through the Amazon Mobile Shopping App on Android, iOS, and Fire OS. Amazon says how the app will let shoppers spend more quality time with their family while also taking advantage of deals.
"Customers can truly sit back and relax with their family and friends this holiday season knowing that they will be notified as soon as the products they've had their eye on are about to go on sale," said Steve Shure, Vice President, Amazon Consumer Marketing. "Year after year, more and more customers shop for deals on Amazon from the comfort of their own home, and we continue to make that process even more convenient for them. And with App Only Deals, customers will have plenty of options when it comes to scoring great deals from Amazon."
