Credit: Shutterstock photoAmazon.com Inc. 's ( AMZN ) film production division, Amazon Studios, released its second original children's TV series - Creative Galaxy - on Prime Instant Video.
Creative Galaxy is an art adventure series which encourages creativity in preschoolers. The show is about an alien artist's travel around the galaxy to solve problems with art, music, dance and creativity. The show has been created by kids' entertainment professional Angela Santomero.
The first six episodes of Creative Galaxy are available on Prime Instant Video and the remaining six will be rolled out later this year.
Last month, Amazon Studios released its first children's TV series - Tumble Leaf - an animated series about a fox's adventures. Moreover, Amazon Studios has two more kid shows in progress for Prime Instant Video, Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street and Wishenpoof! .
Increasing popularity of tablets, smartphones and web-connected TVs has enhanced online-video viewing and continues to attract consumers as well as leading technology companies like Google ( GOOGL ). Per the data released by research firm comScore (SCOR) for Jan 2014, 85.1% of the U.S. Internet audience viewed online video and the duration of the average online content video was 4.4 minutes.
Therefore, Amazon is leaving no stone unturned to boost its digital media sales and attract new users, thereby focusing on kids programming to expand its content line-up and make its Prime Instant video service more attractive to viewers.
Thus, Amazon's expanded portfolio with the addition of these kids' shows is expected boost its competitive prowess against Netflix ( NFLX ), which already has a popular section only for kids. At the same time, it will help Amazon to expand its footprint in the growing streaming market at a much faster rate.
