ADP payrolls report leads agenda

ADP's private-sector payrolls report is the main item on today's agenda.

The report, due at 8:15 a.m. ET, is expected to show the addition of 200,000 jobs, up from 190,000 in August.

European inflation is due earlier in the morning, along with weekly mortgage applications at 7 a.m. ET.

The Chicago purchasing managers index at 9:45 a.m. ET is expected to come in at 52.9, down from last month's 54.4 reading.

Crude-oil inventories follow at 10:30 a.m. ET. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen is scheduled to speak at 3 p.m. ET.

Paychex reports earnings in the pre-market.

Tomorrow's big item is the Institute for Supply Management's manufacturing index, plus jobless claims, construction spending and natural-gas inventories. Micron Technology announces results after the closing bell.
