Vallourec reports smaller first-quarter net loss

May 16 (Reuters) - French steel pipe maker Vallourec reported a smaller first quarter net loss on Thursday, while core earnings turned positive.

The group posted a net loss of 90 million euros in the first three months of 2019, compared to a loss of 170 million in the year earlier period. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose to 67 million euros from a loss of 5 million euros during the first quarter of 2018.
