Tuesday Sector Leaders: Energy, Consumer Products

Looking at the sectors faring best as of midday Tuesday, shares of Energy companies are outperforming other sectors, up 0.1%. Within that group, Helmerich & Payne, Inc. (Symbol: HP) and ConocoPhillips (Symbol: COP) are two large stocks leading the way, showing a gain of 2.2% and 1.0%, respectively. Among energy ETFs , one ETF following the sector is the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLE), which is down 0.1% on the day, and up 7.48% year-to-date. Helmerich & Payne, Inc., meanwhile, is up 11.23% year-to-date, and ConocoPhillips is up 29.07% year-to-date. Combined, HP and COP make up approximately 5.5% of the underlying holdings of XLE.

The next best performing sector is the Consumer Products sector, losing just 0.2%. Among large Consumer Products stocks, Mattel Inc (Symbol: MAT) and Under Armour Inc (Symbol: UA) are the most notable, showing a gain of 4.7% and 3.0%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Consumer Products stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Goods ETF ( IYK ), which is down 0.6% in midday trading, and down 10.46% on a year-to-date basis. Mattel Inc, meanwhile, is down 3.45% year-to-date, and Under Armour Inc is up 28.83% year-to-date. Combined, MAT and UA make up approximately 0.4% of the underlying holdings of IYK.
