Tuesday Sector Laggards: Healthcare, Utilities

Looking at the sectors faring worst as of midday Tuesday, shares of Healthcare companies are underperforming other sectors, showing a 1.4% loss. Within that group, Agilent Technologies, Inc. (Symbol: A) and Celgene Corp (Symbol: CELG) are two of the day's laggards, showing a loss of 8.3% and 3.6%, respectively. Among healthcare ETFs , one ETF following the sector is the Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLV), which is down 1.4% on the day, and down 0.00% year-to-date. Agilent Technologies, Inc., meanwhile, is down 4.78% year-to-date, and Celgene Corp, is down 21.24% year-to-date. Combined, A and CELG make up approximately 2.6% of the underlying holdings of XLV.

The next worst performing sector is the Utilities sector, showing a 1.3% loss. Among large Utilities stocks, NRG Energy Inc (Symbol: NRG) and American Water Works Co, Inc. (Symbol: AWK) are the most notable, showing a loss of 2.5% and 2.0%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Utilities stocks is the Utilities Select Sector SPDR ETF ( XLU ), which is down 1.2% in midday trading, and down 5.10% on a year-to-date basis. NRG Energy Inc, meanwhile, is up 19.24% year-to-date, and American Water Works Co, Inc., is down 10.47% year-to-date. Combined, NRG and AWK make up approximately 3.9% of the underlying holdings of XLU.
