Thursday's ETF with Unusual Volume: SLY

The SPDR S&P 600 Small Cap ETF ( SLY ) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Thursday, with over 257,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 41,000. Shares of SLY were up about 0.5% on the day.

Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Thursday were J.C. Penney ( JCP ), trading up about 1.3% with over 7.4 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Avon Products ( AVP ), up about 3.1% on volume of over 6.9 million shares. Belmond ( BEL ) is the component faring the best Thursday, higher by about 35.4% on the day, while Maiden Holdings ( MHLD ) is lagging other components of the SPDR S&P 600 Small Cap ETF, trading lower by about 23.3%.
