Technology Sector Update for 12/07/2018: CMTL, AVGO, IBM, MSFT, AAPL, CSCO, GOOG

Technology stocks were mostly declining in Friday's pre-bell trading.

Moving stocks include:

(+) Comtech Telecommunications ( CMTL ), which was up by more than 6% after it posted diluted EPS of $0.14 in Q1, beating analysts' estimates of a GAAP net loss of $0.06 per share in a Capital IQ poll, and reversing from a net loss of $0.07 per share.

(+) Broadcom ( AVGO ) was more than 4% higher as it reported fourth-quarter earnings and revenue that both topped forecasts. Non-GAAP earnings came in at $5.85 a share, up from $4.59 a share in the year-earlier period, topping consensus compiled by Capital IQ for $5.58 a share.

(-) International Business Machines ( IBM ) and India's HCL Technologies said late Thursday they have reached a deal for IBM to sell select software products to HCL for $1.8 billion. IBM was slightly down after the news.
