Spain's Acciona, Contour Global in talks over energy assets


MADRID, Feb 9 (Reuters) - Spanish engineering and renewable energy company Acciona and Britain's Contour Global are in talks about a possible deal for the Spanish company's solar power plants, the companies said separately on Friday.

Contour Global is negotiating with Acciona about the purchase of five concentrated solar power plants in Spain and said in its statement it expected to make a further announcement in due course.

Spanish financial newspaper El Economista reported Acciona wanted to sell its thermosolar energy plants to Contour for 1.5 billion euros ($1.84 billion).

Shares in Acciona had been suspended pending its announcement confirming talks.

After the suspension was lifted the stock was up 0.7 percent at 67.36 euros at 1251 GMT, leading gainers on the Spanish market where the Ibex dropped 1.56 percent. Contour Global shares rose 1.5 percent to 269 pence a share.
