Health care stocks rose Thursday, with the NYSE Health Care Index jumping out to a 0.7% gain while shares of health care companies in the S&P 500 were up 0.8% as a group.

In company news, Cellectar Biosciences ( CLRB ) shares gained Thursday after the company developing targeted phospholipid drug conjugates to treat various forms of cancer reported positive test results for a radiotherapeutic isotope in patients with breast cancer.

The company was testing the CLR 125 isotope under a federal grant through the National Cancer Institute, finding a single dose of CLR 125 reduced the volume of human-derived primary triple negative breast cancer tumor models by approximately 60%, compared to a control vehicle. CLR 125 also significantly weakened the progression of micrometastases and reduced established metastases compared to the control vehicle.

CLRB were up 3% at $3.57 apiece, previously climbing to a session high of $4.10 a share.

(-) ATRA, (-3.0%) European regulators classify the company's EBV-CTL product candidate to treat Epstein-Barr syndrome as an advanced therapy medicinal product falling within the definition of a somatic cell therapy medicinal product.
