Health care stocks still were trending lower this afternoon, with the NYSE Health Care Index dropping about 0.1% while shares of health care companies in the S&P 500 also were down over 0.1% as a group.

In company news, Aethlon Medical ( AEMD ) advanced Monday after the company today said it has completed a clinical feasibility trial of its hemopurifier viral and bacterial infection treatment device, showing it can be safely used by individuals with serious health issues.

During the study, Aethlon recruited volunteers with end-stage kidney disease and who were also infected with Hepatitis C virus. The study achieved its primary objective of no device-related adverse events as well as demonstrating virus reduction in those individuals, the company said, adding it now plans to work with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on bringing the device to market and treating viral threats that are often not well addressed by drug therapies.

AEMD shares were up more than 28% at $4.29 each in late trade, earlier rising 33.5% to a session high of $4.46 a share.

In other sector news,

(+) HTBX, Reports a combination of its HS-110 drug candidate and Bristol-Myers-Squibb's nivolumab met its primary safety endpoint during Phase Ib testing, with five of 15 patients treated with the drug combo also experiencing a 20% or greater reduction in tumor size.

(-) OSIR, Nasdaq late Friday issues delisting notice and suspends trading of the company's stock, effective with the start of trading on Tuesday, March 14. Company expects its common stock will be quoted on the Pink OTC Markets system.
