Friday Sector Leaders: Utilities, Consumer Products

Looking at the sectors faring best as of midday Friday, shares of Utilities companies are outperforming other sectors, higher by 0.6%. Within that group, Atmos Energy Corp. (Symbol: ATO) and Duke Energy Corp (Symbol: DUK) are two of the day's stand-outs, showing a gain of 1.5% and 1.1%, respectively. Among utilities ETFs , one ETF following the sector is the Utilities Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLU), which is up 0.6% on the day, and up 12.02% year-to-date. Atmos Energy Corp., meanwhile, is up 11.80% year-to-date, and Duke Energy Corp is up 3.14% year-to-date. Combined, ATO and DUK make up approximately 9.5% of the underlying holdings of XLU.

The next best performing sector is the Consumer Products sector, higher by 0.2%. Among large Consumer Products stocks, Under Armour Inc (Symbol: UAA) and Under Armour Inc (Symbol: UA) are the most notable, showing a gain of 7.1% and 6.5%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Consumer Products stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Goods ETF ( IYK ), which is up 0.1% in midday trading, and up 15.33% on a year-to-date basis. Under Armour Inc, meanwhile, is up 32.60% year-to-date, and Under Armour Inc is up 27.52% year-to-date. Combined, UAA and UA make up approximately 0.4% of the underlying holdings of IYK.
