Financial Sector Update for 08/25/2017: EDR, MSBF, UEPS

Financial stocks were mostly higher this afternoon, with the NYSE Financial Sector Index rising more than 0.4% in recent trading while financial companies in the S&P 500 Index were adding over 0.6% in extra value today.

In company news, EdR ( EDR ) was little changed in Friday afternoon trading, paring almost all of a 1% decline to a session low of $38.04 a share that followed the real estate investment trust last night saying it has opened the first phase of its on-campus replacement housing project at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Mich.

EdR said that in 2017, it will add almost $300 million in assets to its owed portfolio while delivering nearly $100 million in third-party developments, the company said.

In other sector news,

(+) MSBF, (+2.0%) Declares special cash dividend of $0.425 per share, payable on Sept. 20 to shareholders of record on Sept. 7.

(-) UEPS, (-4.3%) Non-GAAP EPS of $0.41 trails Capital IQ consensus by $0.03 per share while revenue rises to $155.1 mln, lagging the $172.6 mln Street view.
