Financial shares were mixed in early trade Wednesday ahead of the Federal Reserve's announcement regarding monetary policy later in the day.

In financial stocks news, CareTrust REIT ( CTRE ), a real estate investment trust that owns health-care properties, has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.17 per share of common stock, payable on Apr. 15 to shareholders of record as of Mar. 31. The dividend represents a 6.3% increase over the previous quarterly dividend.

Shares in the company were flat at $11.79 in early trade. The company has traded between $9.12 and $14.49 over the past 52 weeks.

And Consumer Portfolio Services ( CPSS ) was downgraded to market perform from market outperform by JMP Securities.

Shares in the company were 2.8% lower at $3.81 in early trade. The company has traded between $3.64 and $7.39 over the past 52 weeks.
