European ADRs Move Lower in Tuesday Trading

American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 1.26% lower at 134.64 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Tuesday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by asset management firm Aegon ( AEG ), and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ), which rose 2.1% and 1.2% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Oasmia Pharmaceutical ( OASM ), and biopharmaceutical firm Biofrontera ( BFRA ), which were up 0.9% and 0.7%.

The decliners in continental Europe were led by semiconductor companies STMicroelectronics ( STM ), Sequans Communications (SQNS), which fell 5.4% and 4.8% respectively. They were followed by genome engineering company Cellectis (CLLS), and ASML (ASML), a manufacturer of chip-making equipment, which shed 4.5% and 4.1%.

In the UK and Ireland, the only gainers was consumer goods company British American Tobacco (BTI), which rose 0.7%.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by mining company Rio Tinto (RIO), and gene therapy company Nightstar (NITE), which lost 4.7% and 4.6% respectively. They were followed by mining company BHP Billiton (BBL), and publishing company Pearson (PSO), which were off 4.0% and 2.8%.
