European ADRs Move Lower in Thursday Trading

American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 0.43% lower at 135.25 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Thursday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical firm Biofrontera ( BFRA ), and health care company Novo Nordisk ( NVO ), which rose 2.5% and 1.8% respectively. They were followed by brewing company AB InBev ( BUD ), and RELX NV ( RENX ), a provider of information and analytics, which were up 0.9% and 0.7%.

The decliners in continental Europe were led by online dating site operator Spark Networks ( LOV ), and telecommunications equipment company Ericsson (ERIC), which fell 8.9% and 2.9% respectively. They were followed by software firm Talend (TLND), and geophysical equipment company CGG (CGG), which were off 2.8% and 2.4%.

In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical firm Midatech Pharma (MTP), and consumer goods company British American Tobacco (BTI), which were up 2.5% and 1.9% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP) 1.6%, and biotech firm Shire (SHPG), which were up 2.5% and 1.3%.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by gene therapy company Nightstar (NITE), and biopharmaceutical firm Amarin (AMRN), which fell 5.4% and 5.3% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Avadel (AVDL), and insurance company Prudential (PUK), which lost 2.4% and 1.7%.
