European ADRs Move Lower in Monday Trading

American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 1.41% lower at 135.34 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Monday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by biotech firm Zealand Pharma ( ZEAL ), and communications services provider VEON ( VEON ), which rose 4.8% and 2.8% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical firm, Sanofi ( SNY ), and healthcare company Novo Nordisk ( NVO ), which were up 1.9% and 1%.

The decliners in continental Europe were led by biotech company ERYTECH Pharma ( ERYP ), and pharmaceutical firm Oasmia Pharmaceutical (OASM), which tumbled 28.7% and 13.4% respectively. They were followed by geophysical equipment maker CGG (CGG), and online dating site operator Spark Networks (LOV), which lost 5.0% and 4.8%.

In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical firms Akari Therapeutics (AKTX), and Midatech Pharma (MTP), which were up 1.7% and 1.4% respectively. They were followed by gene therapy company Nightstar (NITE), and biotech firm Shire (SHPG), which increased 1.1% and 0.1%.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK), and biopharmaceutical firm Verona Pharma (VRNA), which shed 8.7% and 5.4% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical firm Avadel (AVDL), and mining company BHP Billiton (BBL), which dropped 4.9% and 3.6%.
