American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 0.15% lower at 125.74 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Friday.
In continental Europe, the gainers were led by 3D printer maker Materialise ( MTLS ), which climbed 4.8%, followed by medical equipment company Edap ( EDAP ), health care company Novo Nordisk ( NVO ), and biopharmaceutical firm MorphoSys ( MOR ), each of which rose 3%.
The decliners in continental Europe were led by biotech company Zealand Pharma ( ZEAL ) and network infrastructure provider Nokia (NOK), which fell 3.5% and 2.4% respectively. They were followed by electronics company Philips Electronics (PHG) and semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS), which were off 2.1% and 1.9%.
In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by gene therapy company Nightstar (NITE) and airline operator Ryanair (RYAAY), which rose 2.7% and 1.7% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP) and educational media company Pearson (PSO), which were up 1% each.
The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by banks Lloyds Banking Group (LYG) and HSBC (HSBC), which fell 1.2% and 1% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications operator Vodafone Group (VOD) and Barclays Bank (BCS), which lost 0.8% each.
