European ADRs Move Higher in Wednesday Trading

American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 0.06% higher at 138.79 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Wednesday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by semiconductor company STMicroelectronics ( STM ), and telecommunications operator Ericsson ( ERIC ), which rose 4.1% and 3.9% respectively. They were followed by network infrastructure operator Nokia ( NOK ), and 3D printer company Materialise ( MTLS ), which were up 2.5% each.

The decliners in continental Europe included pharmaceutical company Oasmia Pharmaceutical ( OASM ), and biopharmaceutical company Forward Pharma (FWP), which fell 3.0% and 5.7% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications providers Telecom Italia (TI), and Telefonica (TEF), which were off 1.0% and 0.4%.

In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by pharmaceutical company Avadel (AVDL), and biopharmaceutical firm NuCana (NCNA), which rose 3.9% and 2.5% respectively. They were followed by gene therapy company Nightstar (NITE), and Trinity Biotech (TRIB), which climbed 1.9% and 1.8%.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by telecommunications firm Vodafone Group (VOD), and building materials supplier CRH (CRH), which dropped 1.6% and 1% respectively. They were followed by Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), and communications group WPP (WPP), which lost 0.4% and 0.6%.
