European ADRs Move Higher in Thursday Trading

American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 0.47% higher at 141.82 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Thursday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by biotech company argenx ( ARGX ), and biopharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ), which rose 6.4% and 4.3% respectively, followed by biopharmaceutical firm Biofrontera ( BFRA ), and semiconductor company STMicroelectronics ( STM ), which climbed 4.2% and 3.9%.

The decliners in continental Europe were led by oil company Statoil ( STO ), and biopharmaceutical company Forward Pharma (FWP), which lost 1.7% and 0.9% respectively. They were followed by information and analytics firm RELX NV (RENX), and bank Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), which were off 0.8% and 0.6%.

In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Akari Therapeutics (AKTX), and Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP), which rose 5.9% and 3.9%, respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Shire (SHPG), and biopharmaceutical company Amarin (AMRN), which were up 3.4% and 2.7%.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Verona Pharma (VRNA), and mining company Randgold Resources (GOLD), which dropped 7.9% and 1.6% respectively. They were followed by RELX PLC (RELX), a provider of information and analytics, which fell 0.8%.
