European ADRs Move Higher in Thursday Trading

American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 0.27% higher at 123.28 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Thursday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical firm DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) and financial services company Credit Suisse ( CS ), which rose 5.6% and 1.6% respectively. Telecommunications operator Telecom Italia ( TI ) and health care company Novartis ( NVS ) were up 1.6% and 1.3%.

The decliners in continental Europe were led by 3D printer maker Materialise ( MTLS ) and pharmaceutical company Oasmia Pharmaceutical (OASM), which fell 15.8% and 7.6% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications company Ericsson (ERIC) and biopharmaceutical company argenx (ARGX), which were off 3.9% and 2.2%.

In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies NuCana (NCNA) and Motif Bio (MTFB), which surged 8.3% and 7% respectively. They were followed by tobacco and consumer goods maker British American Tobacco (BTI) and Lloyds Banking Group (LYG), which were up 1.5% each.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP) and mining company Rio Tinto (RIO), which lost 2.6% and 1.3% respectively.
