European ADRs Move Higher in Monday Trading

American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 0.27% higher at 141.77 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Monday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by biotech company argenx ( ARGX ), and geophysical equipment company CGG ( CGG ), which rose 3.9% and 2.1% respectively. They were followed by semiconductor company STMicroelectronics ( STM ), and French biopharmaceutical company Cellectis ( CLLS ), which were up 1.9% and 1.6%.

The decliners in continental Europe were led by Italian oil and gas company Eni ( E ), and Italian telecommunications provider Telecom Italia (TI), which lost 1.8% and 1.2% respectively. They were followed by Spanish telecommunications provider Telefonica (TEF), and bank Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), which dropped 1.1% each.

In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Midatech Pharma (MTP), and NuCana (NCNA), which rose 7.3% and 4.7% respectively. They were followed by airline operator Ryanair (RYAAY), and biopharmaceutical company GW Pharmaceuticals (GWPH), which were up 4.1% and 3.2%.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical firms Akari Therapeutics (AKTX), and Motif Bio (MTFB), which fell 6.9% and 5% respectively. They were followed by mining company Randgold Resources (GOLD), and consumer goods company British American Tobacco (BTI), which dropped 1.5% and 1.1%.
