European ADRs Move Higher in Monday Trading

American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 1.43% higher at 125.74 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Monday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Grifols ( GRFS ), which surged 8.7%. It was followed by pharmaceutical company Oasmia Pharmaceutical ( OASM ), and semiconductor company STMicroelectronics ( STM ) which rose 7% and 6.2%.

The only decliners in continental Europe were biotech company Forward Pharma ( FWP ), which tumbled 11.6%, and semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ), which lost 2.2%.

In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by banks HSBC (HSBC), Barclays Bank (BCS), and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), which rose 5.4%, 4.4%, and 4% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications operator BT Group (BT), which climbed 3.2%.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by Verona Pharma (VRNA), which fell 2.9%. It was followed by airline operator Ryanair (RYAAY), and biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP), which were off 0.5% each.
