Energy Sector Update for 11/16/2018: TOT, XOM, WMB, HP, CVX, COP, SLB, OXY

Energy stocks were flat to higher in Friday pre-bell tradeing. West Texas Intermediate crude oil for December delivery was up by $1.16 to $57.62 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. The global benchmark Brent crude January contract gained $1.54 to $68.16 per barrel and December natural gas futures were 14 cents higher at $4.18 per 1 million BTU.

In other sector news:

(-) Total ( TOT ) was slightly down after it unveiled a memorandum of understanding with Papua New Guinea and partners ExxonMobil ( XOM ) and Oil Search, defining key terms of a gas agreement for the Papua LNG Project.

(=) Williams ( WMB ) was unchanged as it agreed to form a joint venture in the Delaware Basin with Brazos Midstream and contribute its existing assets in the area to the partnership for a 15% stake in the joint venture.

(+) Helmerich & Payne ( HP ) was slightly higher after reporting diluted EPS of $0.02 for the three months ended Sept. 30, compared with a net loss per diluted share of $0.21 for the same period last fiscal year. Adjusted earnings were $0.19 per share, compared with the Street view of $0.18.
