Energy shares were lower in pre-market trading Monday.

Light, sweet crude oil for August delivery was down 1.1% at $69.88 per barrel, while natural gas was up fractionally at $2.77 per million Btu.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was down 2.1% at $14.16 while the United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) was down 0.7% at $22.26.

- MDU Resources ( MDU ): acquires Oregon's Molalla Redi-Mix; deal seen as accretive to FY18 EPS

- Tidewater ( TDW ), GulfMark ( GLF ): boards approve merger
