Asian ADRs Move Higher in Thursday Trading

American Depositary receipts of Asian stocks were trading 0.57% higher at 1,518.56 on the BNY Mellon Asia 50 ADR Index on Thursday.

In North Asia, the gainers were led by Semiconductor Manufacturing International ( SMI ) and China Life Insurance ( LFC ), which rose 2.9% and 2.5%, respectively. They were followed by automaker Honda Motor ( HMC ) and online consumer finance platform LexinFintech ( LX ), which were up a respective 2% and 0.3%.

Decliners in North Asia were led by securities brokerage China Finance Online ( JRJC ), which tumbled 14.2%, followed by computer-based testing services provider ATA (ATAI), semiconductor company ASE Industrial Holding (ASX), and educational services provider New Oriental Education & Technology (EDU), which lost 4.1%, 3%, and 2.7%, respectively.

In South Asia, gainers were led by IT company SIFY Technologies (SIFY), which rose 2.1%, followed by telecommunications operator PLDT (PHI), and automaker Tata Motors (TTM), which were up 1.7% and 0.6%, respectively.

Biotech firm ASLAN (ASLN) led decliners in South Asia, falling 3.6%, followed by digital entertainment company Sea Limited (SE), business process management services provider WNS Holdings (WNS) and HDFC Bank (HDB), which dropped 1%, 0.5%, and 0.2%, respectively.
