Apple: Mini Home Pod, Another SE, Etc. Confirmed by Rosenblatt
Rosenblatt analyst Jun Zhang has been hard at work confirming all the speculation on MacRumors and other Apple ( AAPL ) sites, and writes that what he's hearing from various unnamed sources confirm what the rumor mill sees for the company's products this year.
"With earnings behind us, focus is quickly shifting toward the next round of product launches later this year," writes Zhang.
"Based on our industry work we offer our view on the line up, which is relatively in line with current media speculation."
One of those likely new products is a revamped " iPad Pro ," which would gain a bezel-less display like the iPhone X, he writes, along with " 3-D sensing " like the iPhone X's " Face ID ."
That, he thinks, could "help accelerate the iPad upgrade cycle since the iPad hasn't seen a meaningful industrial design over-haul in several years."
Another legitimate possibility is a cheaper, smaller HomePod , the speaker system that recently went on sale that responds to Siri voice-activated commands.
That could boost unit shipments, he thinks:
Our research suggests Home Pod preorders are doing well; we currently forecast production of 6 million units this year. Additionally, we believe Apple could launch a low-end Home Pod in the fall with a retail price of roughly $150-200. Looking at the success of Amazon's Echo products we believe demand could exceed 10 million units this calendar year.
In addition he sees an upgraded model of the " iPhone SE ," the cheapie model, and another " Apple Pencil " for use with the iPad but also with a presumed forthcoming iPhone with a 6.5-inch display.
Zhang maintains a Buy rating on Apple shares, and a $180 price target.
Apple stock today is up $1.38, or 0.9%, at $155.90.
