Winners of the DemandTec Retail Challenge to Ring The NASDAQ Stock Market Closing Bell on Monday, January 10

Representatives from DemandTec, Inc. (DMAN), will visit the NASDAQ MarketSite in New York City's Times Square to help judge the Grand Championship final of the fifth annual DemandTec Retail Challenge, a nationwide math and science college scholarship competition for high school seniors.

This year, 334 students, divided into two-person teams, participated in the DemandTec Retail Challenge. The thirteen Regional winning teams received college scholarships and were invited to compete in the Grand Championship final at NASDAQ, sponsored by Netezza, an IBM company. During the competition, the teams were responsible for maximizing profits by analyzing a product segment for a fictional retailer using a modified version of DemandTec retail analytic software.  All finalists will participate in the NASDAQ closing bell ceremony, with the winning team ringing the closing bell.

The fifth annual DemandTec Retail Challenge was sponsored by Deloitte, FreshDirect, General Mills, Giant Eagle, Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian, Netezza, Numerical Algorithms Group, RAM Communications, RetailWire, Target Corporation, and Tops Friendly Markets.

The DemandTec Retail Challenge has awarded more than $100,000 in college scholarships this year and more than $250,000 since its inception. To learn more about the DemandTec Retail Challenge and how to bring the competition to your local city, district, school, and students next year, please visit
