National Invitation Tournament Coaches (NIT) to Ring the NASDAQ Stock Market Opening Bell

ADVISORY, March 28, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) --

What: The head coach of West Virginia University, John Belein along with Clemson University's head coach, Oliver Purnell, whose teams will be playing for the National Invitation Tournament championship at Madison Square Garden, Thursday night, March 29th will preside over the opening bell. Joining their coaches will be student athletes from both institutions along with CM Newton, chair of the NIT Selection Committee. The National Invitation Tournament, founded in 1938, is the oldest post season collegiate tournament in the nation. The 2007 32 team field featured 25 teams with 20 or more wins, and marked the first time in either NCAA or NIT history that all four number one seeds made it to the championship round. In the NIT semi finals Tuesday night at the Garden, West Virginia nailed a three point shot at the buzzer to cap off a come from behind win over Mississippi State while Clemson staved off a furious Air Force rally to hold on to a one point victory.
