The NASDAQ Stock Market to Commemorate the Five-Year Anniversary of September 11th in Honor of the Victims and Families

WHO: The NASDAQ Stock Market will be observing the events that took place on September 11, 2001, with a commemorative Opening and Closing Bell Ceremony and a trading moment of silence. WHAT: In lieu of an Opening Bell ceremony, The NASDAQ MarketSite Tower in Times Square will broadcast, in its entirety, the ceremony taking place on ground zero starting at 8:30 a.m. The NASDAQ Tower will acknowledge the various moments of silence within the ceremony at ground zero. For the Closing Bell ceremony, Iris Weinshall, Commissioner of the Department of Transportation (DOT), Anthony Coscia, Chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Kenneth Ringler, Executive Director Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will preside over the closing bell in remembrance of September 11th. Furthermore, NASDAQ has asked the trading community to refrain from trading for a moment of silence between 10:29a.m. - 10:30 a.m. (representing the fall of the North Tower) on Monday September 11th 2006 to remember those who lost their lives on this tragic day. WHEN: Monday September 11th 2006 Commemorative Moments of Silence on the Tower in conjunction with the ceremony on ground zero: 8:46 AM - Moment of silence (observance of time first plane struck North Tower) 9:03 AM - Moment of silence (observance of time second plane struck South Tower) 9:59 AM - Moment of silence (observance of time of fall of the South Tower) 10:29 AM - Moment of silence (observance of time of fall of the North Tower) - NASDAQ market participants' moment of silence WHERE: NASDAQ MarketSite / NASDAQ Tower 4 Times Square (corner of 43rd and Broadway) New York, NY 10036 FEED: The NASDAQ Tower will be available from 9:20 a.m. to 9:35 a.m. on uplink IA6 C band / transponder 24, downlink frequency 4180 horizontal.
