NEW YORK, Nov. 9, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- NASDAQ OMX today announced that it has partnered with Cooking with the Troops, a charity that supports U.S. and Allied troops, their families, and caregivers worldwide, to host an event honoring U.S. Veterans at the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square, New York on November 11, 2011 in honor of Veterans Day.

The event will feature cooking demonstrations by Ellen Adams, Cooking with the Troops' chef; Chef Paul Niedermann, winner of Season 9 of FOX's Hell's Kitchen and head chef of BLT Steak in New York City; James Luque, Executive Chef of the Historic Thayer Hotel at West Point; and Fairway Market Food Experts. Fairway Market will also prepare the lunch for all of the Veterans and guests at the event.

B.N. Shape Clothing and NASDAQ-listed companies, Blue Nile (Nasdaq:NILE), the leading online retailer of diamonds and fine jewelery, and Sears Holdings Corporation, one of the nation's largest broadline retailers, are also sponsoring the day's activities in support of the United States Veterans.

To kick off the day's agenda on November 11, Blue Nile will sponsor a surprise wedding proposal by a Veteran in Times Square. Following the proposal, country star and U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Josh Gracin, will be joined by David Works, SVP, President Talent & Human Capital Services and Navy Veteran, Sears Holdings, Fang Wong, National Commander, American Legion, and American Legion representatives to preside over the Opening Bell. Gracin recently partnered with Sears to create and produce a unique track, called "Can't Say Goodbye", which sheds light on U.S. military heroes. Sears will donate all proceeds from the song to benefit its Heroes at Home program which helps military veterans and their families. To support our military heroes during the holidays, Americans can make a donation to the Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry now through Nov. 19 at any Sears or online at Sears.com/heroesathome.
