The Municipal Forum of New York, Inc. started with a group of about twenty municipal bond professionals who met from time to time to discuss topics related to municipal finance. As the size of the group increased, it became formally organized in 1938, and discussion continued as an integral part of its programs. First launched in 1992, the Municipal Forum's Urban Leadership Fellows (ULF) program provides paid summer internship and scholarship opportunities for graduating New York City high school students who have expressed interest in careers in the public finance industry. Working with our partners, Futures and Options, to administer the internship programs, ULF gives students the opportunity to learn about the municipal securities industry first-hand. Each intern receives a book grant and ULF alumni can also receive $1,000 scholarships for up to three years of college. This summer ULF is providing internships to 36 students at public-finance organizations ranging from banks to law firms to City and State government agencies.
