Helsinki, March 14, 2012 – NASDAQ OMX Helsinki is pleased to announce that Mr. Alexander Stubb, Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade of Finland, will ring The NASDAQ Stock Market Opening Bell in New York City, NY, at 9:30 am EDT today, March 14, 2012.
Minister Stubb’s delegation consists of 27 representatives from Finnish startup companies. The group is travelling in the US in order to promote Finnish startup expertise and to create connections with key customers and investors. The aim of the trip is to increase awareness of Finland as a European hub of startup companies.
Prior to traveling to New York City, Minister Stubb visited Washington, D.C., where he met U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Thomas R. Nides and Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business and Agricultural Affairs Robert D. Hormats. In New York City, the delegation is going to meet media companies and investors and in Silicon Valley, California, successful ICT companies and investors. Minister Stubb is also going to join a roundtable discussion at the University of California, Berkeley.
