About Marine Park Civic Association:
The Marine Park Civic Association located in the Marine Park area of Brooklyn, New York is proud to be celebrating its' 80th Anniversary this year. We wouldn't be here today without all the hard work of the volunteers who started this Association in 1926 and new board members who joined throughout the years. We have seen our community develop from farmlands into an established, vibrant community. Our Board has had representation through the years of lawyers, small store owners and businesses, teachers, policemen, firemen, architects, civil servants and homemakers.
Our community flourishes because of the support of volunteers whether they are on our Board, Parent Teacher Association, coaches for sports programs, coordinators of senior citizen programs or volunteer ambulance. Hopefully we are setting a good example for the youth in our community to follow in our footsteps. With the support of our NYC Parks department, police, fire, sanitation and transportation departments, we try to provide a safe, healthy, fun environment for the 3,500 residents in our community. We work closely with our elected officials to secure monetary support for all our programs. Groundbreaking for a senior citizen center is scheduled for the Fall 2006 and the restoration of the Hendrick I. Lott House, a historic landmark began last winter.
Volunteers are an important asset to any community and we in the Marine Park Community are fortunate to have many dedicated volunteers. We would like to thank the NASDAQ Stock Market for giving us this opportunity and recognizing our association and its eighty years of service to the community.
