Bruce Springsteen opened a rally for President Barack Obama in Madison today with his song "No Surrender" and followed up with "The Promised Land." Springsteen took the stage around 10:30 a.m. Monday wearing a black vest and playing acoustic guitar and harmonica. He asked the crowd of 18,000 who waited hours in freezing temperatures if they were fired up and they cheered in return. "It's certainly early to sing, particularly if you don't have a voice," he said. "Hello Wisconsin!"
