The U.S. trade deficit widened in May as the stronger U.S. dollar and weak overseas demand pressured exports.The trade gap widened to almost $42 billion dollars.,Since the middle of last year when the Federal Reserve made clear it was planning to raise interest rates to keep the economy from eventually overheating, the dollar has strengthened, making U.S. exports less competitive.The dollar gained against a basket of currencies following the report.
