Stocks Rise After US Report Offsets China Weakness - Presented by: The Aol. On Network

Stocks rose Thursday after a survey showed that U.S. manufacturing expanded at the fastest pace in almost four years. The report helped offset a weak survey on Chinese manufacturing. The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 10 points, or 0.6 percent, to 1,839 as of 1:26 p.m. Eastern time. The Dow Jones industrial average gained 109 points, or 0.7 percent, to 16,149. The Nasdaq composite climbed 19 points, or 0.5 percent, to 4,257.
